To say nothing at the least… (bonus)
I heard a lot of guff from the RNC recently about how the mainstream ‘liberal’ media was smearing and attacking the Palin family for the actions of her pregnant teenage daughter. I’m not so sure that these attacks did or did not happen. I was home and unfortunately watched a lot of television this last week and a half. the fact of the matter was brought up, but not in what I would consider a sensational manner and certainly not in the line of attacks that the politicians (most noticeably Governor Palin herself) have been baking on each other.
But then again, there’s this whole tricky and all-too-vague ‘media’ label. What is media? Can you touch it, sniff it, shoot it up, lick it? There’s of course bloggers, but we get blamed for every stupid thing because, well, there’s a lot of stupid bloggers out there (take the Rachel Ray is supporting terrorists story. Please). Truth be known, however, the media also encompasses well entrenched gossip rags. And this is what I heard an editor from one (hell, I’ll name it. ‘Cause I ain’t afraid of Us) of those rags say in regards to Bristol’s” boyfriend-cum-forced-fiance:
On his blog, it says that he is in a relationship but doesn’t want kids. What kind of message does that send?”
OK, try to fit this through your celebrity-obsessed brain: He. Is. A. Kid. Who wants children at that age? He’s caught in a maelstorm, albeit one he took part in creating… And he said this on MySpace? So what? He’s a teenager and he mentions that once in passing on the internet? Hell, I didn’t want kids at his age. To be honest, I don’t know what the heck I’m doing now…
But, outside of that, nada. No attacks. That’s just a case of Republicans being all political smoke in the water and up our arses talking again.
